Switching workshop software
Switch workshop software without losing your history.
Switching systems is hard mostly because it feels big. This is how a workshop moves to MGX ERP, and what to check whichever system you choose.
- Start
- Your own system with its own database from day one
- Move
- Customers, vehicles and history
- Transition
- Run in parallel until you are ready
- Accounting
- Stays in Fortnox, Accounted, Bokio or Visma
Step by step
How the switch works.
- Start
You get your own system
Your own MGX ERP at your own address, with its own database. No other workshop’s data is mixed with yours.
- Move
Customers, vehicles and history move in
Vehicles are imported in bulk. Duplicate customers and items are found automatically, so the register ends up cleaner than it was.
- Finance
Accounting is connected
Customers and items are linked to Fortnox, Accounted, Bokio or Visma. Your bookkeeping stays in the software you already use.
- Transition
Running in parallel
New work orders go into MGX while the old system stays for what is already in progress.
- Done
The old system is closed
When you are ready, not when a contract says so.
Checklist
Five questions to ask before you switch.
Whichever workshop system you look at, these are the questions that decide how it feels in three years.
- Who owns the data, and how do you reach it? Ask whether you can always take your data out, and what happens to it if you leave.
- Does it fit your vehicles? A boat with two engines, a snowmobile and a golf car are not a car.
- How does it tie in with accounting? Customers, items and invoice data should not be typed twice.
- Can it handle the season? Storage, keys and jobs done in several sessions during the spring rush.
- Can an AI assistant help? A system with a built-in AI assistant can book, search and prepare for you, with the same permissions as the user.
